Anyone else think it’s funny E.M. Forster wrote a book titled Where Angels Fear to Tread?

    No. Sorry.

Had Howard’s End led to the Passage to India, I would certainly have snorted.

These days, E.M.Forster more or less inevitably prefigures H.B.Carter in a frock. She’s delightful to look at, but there are only so many stories one can cope with about how dreadful it is to have to go on holiday and have all your work done for you by the slaves whose country you’ve occupied.

And however beautifully written it all is, there’s no excuse for Empire.

Is it just me, or is AnyasFloppyEars unduly and inordinately pleased with himself?

…I know, and there is only room for one pedantic, arrogant, pompous, pretensious jerk on this site!

now, where would we be without your enormous wit and charm, slightlyem! Don’t be silly. It’s probably when things go over my head that I tend to poke fun, particularly if I don’t feel like looking up their meaning and take the lazy, mean way out. It’s kind of fun like that, too.
