Some demons and vampires use kittens as currency in games of poker. Spike joined a game in Life Serial, which was where we first met Clem. A literal lone shark came after Spike in Tabula Rasa looking for kittens he was owed. |

I know that it’s not the point, but I just hate the fact that the demons in the bar are playing draw poker. No one plays that game anymore. Hold ‘em or stud (which would be the best choice, in my opinion) would be much better games to have these guys play. Again, I realize that the point is just to be funny, but this (and other bad examples of showing poker on television shows) just always gets on my nerves. However, I do really love the scene in “The I in Team” when Xander, Anya, and Willow are playing draw, as it is the right game for that scene, but it is not the right game for “Life Serial.”

I just want to agree with my brother, NotFadeAway, on this subject. You are right that stud would be the best choice. However, the demons would need more kittens to cover enough bets to reach the river. It is also worth noting that draw poker is a decent choice of game in “Older and Far Away,” although I would prefer hold’em here. It’s just one opinion, however.
