[Tara]
I lived my life in shadow
Never the sun on my face
It didn’t seem so sad though,
I figured that was my place
Now I’m bathed in light
Something just isn’t right
I’m under your spell
How else could it be
Anyone would notice me?
It’s magic, I can tell
How you set me free
Brought me out so easily
I saw a world enchanted
Spirits and charms in the air
I always took for granted
I was the only one there
But your power shone
Brighter than any I’ve known
I’m under your spell
Nothing I can do
You just took my soul with you
You worked your charm so well
Finally, I knew
Everything I dreamed was true
You make me believe…
The moon to the tide
I can feel you inside
I’m under your spell
Surging like the sea
Pulled to you so helplessly
I break with every swell
Lost in ecstasy
Spread beneath my Willow tree
You make me complete
You make me complete
You make me complete
You make me…

I could be wrong, but I always thought the last line was:
You make me com-
This made it more suggestive and keeps with Joss’ tradition of slipping things under the censors’ noses. It also matches the scene more, what with what Willow was doing off-screen to Tara. And it cuts in nicely to Xander saying that he bets they’re not even working. Of course, like I said previously, I could be completely wrong.

I believe the previous comment is absolutely correct. I always remember myself being surprised the censors allowed that cut in the dialogue to happen.

I too had the impression that the song ended on “You make me com…”. But when I listened to the DVD (Region 2) again, I found that it ends on “You make me…”. Perhaps the reason we got this impression is because Tara pauses slightly in the middle of the word “com…plete”. This is probably deliberate.

“I lived my life in shadow
Never the sun on my face”
This appears to be based on the opening lines of the song “Wind Beneath My Wings”:
“It must have been cold there in my shadow,
to never have sunlight on your face.”
(The song “Wind Beneath My Wings” was mentioned in the episode “Something Blue”.)

I was laughing so much that my sides hurt when the scene cut to Xander’s remark of how he bet Tara & Willow weren’t even working :P

Yes, same old Xander. He never stop being jealous and curious about Willow and Tara. :D
