Rooting for Man United is like rooting for the New York Yankees…which, um…I do, so, yeah…Go Man United! (I’m actually partial to Arsenal…but I was caught up in the swell of rooting for over-paid, money-driven, zealot-owned, large market, unrestricted sports dynasties that crush smaller-market, cash-poor, independent-television-contract-less teams!)

Disappointing to think of Spike as a glory hunter.

I don’t know much about soccer, but I can’t picture Spike rooting for a team comparable to the Yankees. He’s just too cool and wouldn’t seem to be such a frontrunner.

I don’t know much about English soccer (or U.S. soccer, for that matter, unlike the other sports in the U.S., which I think that I know very well), but it seems, from what I do know about it, that Manchester United is one of those things that is wrong with sports (just like the Evil Yankees). I also can’t imagine Spike rooting for them. I could picture him rooting for the Red Sox (although I hate to say something even that bad about such a great character), assuming that there is that type of team in English football (Arsenal? I really don’t know).
