 In Restless, when we see a group of people crowding round Xander’s ice cream truck, there’s a girl standing to the left of the screen who really (and REALLY) looks like Michelle Trachtenberg (Dawn). Michelle was not yet a member of the cast of Buffy, but Joss had mentioned in his commentary that she visited the set during the filming of Restless, so it’s not entirely impossible that it’s not Michelle. |

A few people have sent me these “look-a-like” pieces of trivia (and I’ve created a category for them called “Spotted?” in Behind the Scenes) but this is the first that really made me think it might be true. I’ve watched the tiny section of Restless containing the “Michelle” like person and really think it might be her. The only problem is - surely Joss would have mentioned it in his commentary if it was?

I don’t see how you could tell. If it’s referring to the girl I think you’re referring to, then you never get so much as a glimpse at her face, only the back of her head. She looks a little broad to be Michelle Trachtenberg.

I rewatched the episode and paused it looking carefully, and the girl does indeed resemble very much Trachenberg, there is a few reasons why maybe it wasn’t mentioned on the DVD commentary.
1.Whedon simply forgot about it, it was very brief, and probably a spare of the moment thing when she was visting the set,the commentary took place a couple of years after the episode, and this like probably hundreds of other tibits was simply forgotten with everything else going on in the episode.
2.It is possible that her doing even this spare of the moment only see her back appearance voilated some sort of SAG (Screen Actors Guild) rule, which I am sure Trachenberg is a member of, seeing how she already had done tv and movies,most the extras on tv and movies are non-union, and it’s possible she wasn’t paid for this appearance at all, so not wanting any heat from SAG it might have been a wink,nod appearance, and if fans spot it, then Whedon and Co couldn’t acknowledge it, but will secretly smile people caught it.
So anyway that is a few of my theories on it.

It looks heaps like her. Exactly the same hair, all shiny and long. It could definetely be her.
