In The Body, when Buffy finds Joyce’s body, she says “Mom? Mom? Mommy?” Dawn repeats this phrase in Conversations with Dead People, when she thinks Joyce is trying to communicate with her. |

Although I’m not a big fan of the episode The Body (because it’s just so sad), I do think SMG did really well with this scene. She made it look so realistic and believable, and I cry every time I watch it.
I don’t get people that say she can’t act.

What, people say SMG can’t act? Heh… I saw “The Grudge” and realized that maybe she’s not cut out for the big screen, but in Buffy she is amazing. If people say she can’t act, they haven’t seen “The Body”, which is one of the finest pieces of acting seen on television in a long time.

If you don’t like her acting in “The Grudge” (I do, actually, but I don’t like the film too much), you should check out her work in “Cruel Intentions”. She comes across very well in it, and shows that she can be cut out for movies as well as television.
Personally, I think that it’s not just “The Body” that one should look at to see her acting, but all of season five. This seems to be where she did her finest work on the show (or at least where her acting skills were best shown off).
