Mrs lyrics

Anya

Anya’s song ‘Mrs’ is sung in Selfless. The lyrics are:

Mr. Xander Harris. That’s what he is to the world outside.
That’s the name he carries with pride.
I’m just lately Anya.
Not very much to the world, I know.
All these years with nothing to show.
I’ve boned a troll, I’ve wreaked some wrath,
But on the whole, I’ve had no path.
I like to bowl, I’m good with math.
But who am I? Now I reply that.
I’m the Missus. I will be his Missus. Mrs. Anya Christina Emanuella Jenkins Harris.
What’s the point of loving… (I mean except for the sweaty part.)
What’s the point of losing your heart?
Maybe if you’re lucky
Being a pair makes you twice as tall.
Maybe you’re not losing at all.
No need to cover up my heart,
Plus see above, re: sweaty part.
So maybe love is pretty smart
And so am I!
I found my guy!
And I’ll be Missus. I will be his Missus. Mrs. Anya Lame-Ass-Made-Up-Maiden-Name Harris.
We’ll never part,
Not if we can.
And if we start
Then here’s my plan.
I’ll show him what bliss is,
Welcome him with kisses
‘Cause this is a Missus who misses her man.
He’s my Xander and he’s awfully swell.
It makes financial sense as well.
Although he can be I’ll never tell.
Just stand aside
Here comes the bride.
I’ll be Missus. I will be his Missus. I will be…

    1. Abby M. says:

God I love this song! The “sweaty part” line, the reference to her “lame-ass-made-up-maiden-name” and the reference to I’ll Never Tell. Truely a work of art.

    2. TwoToGo-Grave says:

Plus allusions to the past with mentions of bowling (from The Gift) and being good at math (which she was failing in high school in Dopplegandland), and the song just rules. This is by far the best part of a great episode (in my opinion, anyway).

    3. Mel says:

I have this song if anyone wants it.

There is a link direct to my e-mail on the music pages. (mjck1@aol.com)

    4. locoboy says:

Yeah, just an excellent song, and an outstanding episode. It’s episodes like these that are lacking in the final season of Buffy - episodes that are more dedicated to the other characters. I mean really, Willow changed from one of the highlights of the show to one of the most boring characters in this season.

    5. Dawn says:

      I LOVEEEEEEE this song!
is there an High Quality version of this song anywhere?

    6. Angel242 says:

Every song And sentence with Anya always makes me laughe..
      almost.
She is so great so extrordinary. :D

    7. Mel says:

I have a good quality copy of the song, if anyone wants it. Send me an e-mail at mjck1@aol.com.

I also thought Anya was funny but there were a few times in season 7 when I kind of didn’t like her, especially her speech in Empty Places.

I still shed a small tear when she died though.

    8. Dawn says:

I didnt liked her speech in Empty Places either, but she was and still is the only character from the show who just said what she was thinking, she was honest and straight forward… and all the things she said to Buffy where quite right….

I cried also when she died…
I guess she will be one of the best written characters ever in a show, for me! :)

    9. hannah_wish01 says:

yep, that song was amazing, and great in the context of this episode. i only wished there were more flashbacks to the musicle episode as it was absolutely briliant. and i also agree, anya was and will always be “one of the best written characters ever in a show”

    10. AnyaRocks says:

I agree. I love Anya! It was this song and episode that made me really pay attention to her. She’s great, just like this song.

    11. cardboardy says:

      And another thing:
At the end of this song, when Anya covers sleeping Xander with a blanket and climbs atop the spinning recliner, the crane camera captures an image that is chillingly similar to Kylie Minogue’s beach-towel video clip for “Slow”.
      Why, Joss??
