In the episode Angel, Angel talks to Buffy about how having a soul affects him, as he can now experience remorse for his past deeds.
This statement is later contradicted in a flashback sequence to the Boxer Rebellion in an episode of the second season of Angel, entitled “Darla”. In this episode, Darla is testing post-curse Angel, by asking him to prove his evilness by eating a baby. The following exchange occurs:

Well this was when Angel still was bad, when he first got he’s soul he tried to continue in his old ways, but he couldn’t do it. I mean, changing your diet after a 150 years is tough.
So I guess he has an excuse. But maybe that wasn’t what you meant.

Also, the whole thing in Orpheus with the donut shop guy … Hmm, Angel, tsk tsk.

It is cool to look at the difference that the two shows have in regards to this subject. There are numerous times on Angel when the act of killing a human is portrayed as acceptable, while this is simply not the case on BTVS. The killing Warren storyline could not have existed on Angel because of this fact; however, it is nice that the shows are dissimilar enough that this can be the case. It obviously would be bad if they were too alike.

There was also the sailor Lawson in the submarine seen in the Angel episode 5 episode Why We Fight.
Angel drank from him so that he would be turned and stay alive to save the men on board.
The whole question of a vampire with a soul siring someone comes into question in this episode too. If Angel has a soul, does the new vamp have one too? Lawson says that he was trapped and there was a little bit of soul transferred to him too.
Lawson: You gave me just enough, didn’t you? Enough of your soul to keep me
trapped between who I was and who I should be. I’m nothin because of you.

Yeah, I forgot about that. I finished Angel while I was away and found when they killed humans, I was pretty pissed. Mr. I-save-peoples’-souls kills humans sometimes. I mean, Buffy’s MO isn’t trying to redeem anyone and she knows enough that no matter how noble you are, you don’t have the right to take another life with a soul.
One of my favorite moments in the show because it was so emotional was in Not Fade Away when Lorne tells Angel that even if Lindsey and him live through their members of the Black Thorn, he won’t be back to help save the day. Then you find out it was because Lorne had to kill Lindsey. Lorne was always so gentle and nice and for him to kill another person, it really killed him. He just says, “Thats all folks” and drops the gun. Awesome.
