At the end of Killed By Death, when Joyce is waiting hand and foot on the gang by bringing them snacks and drinks, Xander is drinking a bottle of the now deceased soft drink Surge. The citus drink was made by the Coca-Cola company in the late 90s, but they ceased it’s production due to a drop in sales (due in part to a widespread rumour that the yellow dye in Surge could shrink testicles). Surge is still available in Denmark, Sweden, and Norway: countries where the male citizens don’t care about the size of their balls.

I’ve apparently lived a very sheltered life, since I don’t think I’ve ever heard of Surge, at least not the rumour about it. I live in Sweden, by the way, so the rumour probably didn’t make it here, just the drink. Plus I’ve no idea how men think, so I wouldn’t know whether they’d drink this here anyway.

Sorry, hope I didn’t offend you with my silly Scandinavian joke. If you do see it in the supermarket, it’s probably best not to drink it though!

The ball shrinking stuff is nonsense anyway, See www.snopes.com for details.

My mom has never really taken an “authoritive” role with me and even she wouldn’t let me drink Surge a lot because of the caffiene. I thought that is why they took it off the shelf. My brother drank it a lot….thank you karma…

As my name suggests I’m a Swede too, and I’ve never seen a Surge can/bottle in my life…

I was in love with Surge when it came out, but like most of my friends, my mom wouldn’t let me drink it.
However, either Coca-Cola or Pepsi (can’t remember which one) recently released a new drink, Vault, which I’m pretty sure is exactly the same thing as Surge was. And now that I’m 21, not 10, my mom can’t tell me not to drink it!

When Surge first came out, I was a driver for a delivery company. We got to deliver samples to area businesses and we got some free samples ourselves. I also got a free, bright green Surge t-shirt that I still wear. Once in a while someone will see my shirt and say, “Hey, I remember that drink. Whatever happened to it?” Now I know.
