Taciturn Man

Angel and Oz are both referred to as ‘taciturn men’ in Buffy and Angel. Tactiturn means “1. inclined to silence; reserved in speech 2. dour, stern and silent in expression and manner” per the Random House College Dictionary.
In the Buffy episode Enemies, Buffy is wondering how Angel felt about kissing Faith. Willow offers the following advice: “Buffy, I, too, know the love of a taciturn man, and you have to look at their actions.” Here, Willow is referring to both Oz and Angel as taciturn men.
In Angel season one, ‘Sanctuary‘, Angel yells at Buffy for getting angry that he helped Faith. After she leaves, Angel says, “For a taciturn, shadowy guy - I’ve got a big mouth.”

Why, thank you! I originally deduced taciturn to me nocturnal or something to do with being part demon, but I finally looked it up and had to add the definition. Plus it’s so funny when Angel refers to himself as a taciturn man! Angel’s “Sanctuary” episode was right before Buffy’s season 4 “The Yoko Factor” and his yelling at Buffy just prior to the taciturn comment scene is the reason he came back to Sunnydale to apologize. In the ep, incidentally, when Buffy takes Angel in the hallway to talk to him and Angel walks by Riley with this little smug grin on his face, that is my most favorite Angel moment ever!

Any time that Angel acts all petty, it makes for a great moment. It just can’t get old, or I don’t think it can, at least.

another thing, let’s call it a synonym for taciturn.
in s4 wild at heart, after willow has had her still beating-heart ripped out, buffy admonishes Oz, suggesting that “now might be a good time for your trademark stoicism”
(stoicism would be in italics there if i knew how to italicise)

im really confused now. ive hit that button before and i just end up and the welcome to new members admin page, and i cant see any reference to helping my words to get slanty.
i guess it’s straight up not meant to be.
    thx for yr support anyway!

Don’t feel bad, cardboardy, I made many, many things italicize when I only meant to do a few words, so now I just stay away from the slanty altogether, it kind of scares me…

ive seen refernce to this cataclysmic event on the site. and still, im jealous.

Don’t feel bad, cardboardy. You’re not the only one with this problem. What I don’t get is that I’ve been able to italicize before, but now I can’t. Previously, I just clicked on the ‘Click here for help’ button and went straight to the page. But now, like cardboardy says, it just goes straight to the ‘Welcome’ page.
