This dialogue could also be referencing The Tragedy of Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare. Brutus and the rest of the conspiritors kill Caesar as his power grows based on the reasons Lorne mentions: once you get power, you turn your back on those who were your friends when you didn’t have power.
