In Pangs, Willow says, “We’re just assuming someone else cut off the ear. What if it was self- inflicted like van Gogh?” Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890) was a Dutch painter, whose paintings include Sunflowers, Irises and Portrait of Doctor Gachet. Van Gogh famously suffered a mental breakdown after an argument with artist Paul Gauguin and cut off part of his own left ear. He committed suicide in 1890. |
