The Angel season five episode ‘Damage’ deals with the consequences of Willow’s powerful spell in Chosen, which gave all potentials their Slayer power. In ‘Damage’, Angel and Spike try to help a dangerous new Slayer called Dana, who was in a mental institution when she became a Slayer. The episode also features Andrew, who reveals a great deal of information about the Scoobies’ whereabouts since Chosen. He says that he and Giles are in England, trying to set up a new Watcher’s Council, and tells Spike that Giles has been training him (”You’re not the only one who’s changed. Mr. Giles has been training me. I’m faster, stronger, and 82% more manly than the last time”.)
Andrew also reveals that Xander is in Africa, Willow and Kennedy are in Brazil, based in Sao Paulo and Buffy is in Rome where Dawn is attending school.
He also informs Angel that Buffy and the gang don’t trust him anymore because he now works for Wolfram & Hart. Andrew eventually doublecrosses Angel and takes Dana away for further help, telling Angel, “I’ve got 1 twelve vampire Slayers behind me, and not one of them has ever dated you”.
Later, in the Angel episode ‘The Girl In Question’, Spike and Angel race to Rome to help save Buffy from The Immortal, but when they get there they find out that she is actually dating him. The episode was made to try and put some closure on the Angel/Buffy/Spike love triangle but Sarah Michelle Gellar was unable for filming so Angel and Spike only see a distant blonde head dancing in a club. There are a few references to Buffy episodes in the ‘The Girl In Question’ - to Chosen, Graduation Day (Part 2) and Becoming Part Two:
ANGEL: “I helped save the world, you know.”
SPIKE: “Like I haven’t.”
ANGEL: “Yeah, but I’ve done it a lot more.”
SPIKE: “Oh, please.”
ANGEL: “I closed the hellmouth.”
SPIKE: “I’ve done that.”
ANGEL: “Yeah, you wore a necklace. You know, I helped kill the Mayor and, uh, and Jasmine and —”
SPIKE: “Do those really count as savin’ the world?”
ANGEL: “I stopped Acathla. That saved the world.”
SPIKE: “Buffy ran you through with a sword.”
ANGEL: “Yeah, but I made her do it. I signaled her with my eyes.”
SPIKE: “She killed you. I helped her! That one counts as mine.”
Angel also references Buffy’s cookie-dough speech from Chosen: “But she’s not finished baking yet. I gotta wait till she’s done baking, you know, till she finds herself, ‘cause that’s the drill. Fine. I’m waitin’ patiently, and meanwhile, The Immortal’s eatin’ cookie dough!”

ANDREW - Spike, is Angel crying?
SPIKE (indignant) - No!
[looks around to check]
SPIKE - Not yet.
I hated that episode with a vengeance, which is a pity cause it could’ve been so much better. Angel and Spike’s dialogues were classic, but unfortunately they were used to support possibly the most ridiculous plot ever. Let us not even speak of the Italian W&H and the annoying demon.
Lesson should’ve been learned from Soul Purpose - If you can’t have SMG, then don’t try and jerryrig Buffy in. It’ll be tosh.

Yep, i loved the chemistry of Spike and Angel but having Spike on top of a “blonde girl” with the hair over her face, maybe buffy in the fantasy did not like looking at spike. And the terrible lines they picked out for her like “Can you say jumping the gun? I killed my goldfish!”
Rubbish.

Amen, Soul Purpose sucked. Poor david for directing that peice of crap. Though we did get the Lindsay as doyal stuff which was great.
As for The Girl In Question, I liked it. The Apocalypse conversation was a gift to the fans who debate this on line.
And i enjoyed seeing andrew one last time, though i wish dawn had been there too. (i really wanted them to get together at the end of season seven)

Oh i don’t think soul purpose sucked. It was just that segment in it with fake buffy.
As for David directing, i thought he did great for a first timer. but the episode on the whole was great - “thanks bear”.

Has anyone read the book Queen of The Slayers? It follows on from season 7 of Buffy.
It makes a few references to the Angel episode Damage when Andrew is telling Spike where the gang all are.
It’s not the best of the Buffy novels and the story is a bit off but the one thing I liked was, it went into detail about Willow struggling with her relationship with Kennedy and feeling guilt over Tara which I feel should have been explored more in season 7.

I read the, and i use the word loosely, “novel”, called False Memories. It says that if you wondered what happened when Angel went evil or when Faith came to town and Dawn was there, this was the book for you. It turned out that it was a comic! and a bad one at that. the background story was a missing slayer who had been turned into a vampire and was trying to ressurect the master. It flashbacked twice and all the speech in those little segments were changed a small bit like instead of Angel grabbing Willow, he grabbed Dawn and then threw her down and grabbed Willow and said to Buffy that it involved finding the bodies of all your friends (and sister). I urge people not to buy this rubbish excuse for a novel. Has anyone got any good Buffy books to read? Let us know.

The one I would recommend is The Lost Slayer - it is the one that I can re-read over again.
Buffy gets fast forwarded into her body 5 years into the future to stop the new vanmpire king - who is Giles!
Meanwhile she has to work out how to get back to the present day to stop herself from making the mistake which led to an ancient prophet being released and Giles from being sired.
It is an excellent read.

November 3rd, 2005 at 2:30 pm
Enjoy your holiday - where are you off to?
November 3rd, 2005 at 2:39 pm
Crap, I just uploaded the wrong file to the site whilst eating a sandwich (see how very professional I am) and messed up the navigation to the site. The proper file is saved at home so the site is going to look crap now til I get home and upload the proper one. Sorry!
I shouldn’t try and impulsively change the site whilst on my lunch break!

LOL! I am sure the site will cope till you get home Jess.
Have a nice holiday Ant, going anywhere nice?
I hope you enjoy the book after me telling you how much I did.

Mel,
Thanks for the insight on “The Lost Slayer”. I have yet to read a Buffy novel yet and was very hesitant to start. I didn’t want to be annoyed with making the wrong choice and never wanting to read another Buffy book. I’ll be ordering this one soon! Any other good suggestions?

There are a few good books, The Book of Fours is another I enjoyed. I have loads of Buffy novels, will have a look through them and get the names of the ones I liked.
I am just about to read the Wicked Willow books and got another new one that just arrived this morning called Heat - will let you know if they are any good.
Ebay is the best place if you want to buy Buffy books, you can get them for next to nothing.
I am selling a few at the moment that I have doubles off.
