A couple of years ago, I had to go to Japan on business, and the client took me to a place that served poisonous raw blowfish. It is said that if you eat improperly prepared blowfish, you’ll die before you even swallow one bite. Of course, twisted moron that I am, I was all “Yeah…let me try some of that!”
Well, I died.
No, not really (geez, you people are gullible…). Actually, and I had been told this, if properly prepared, your mouth gets numb and you catch quite the buzz. Apparently, the goal is to prepare it so there is just a little bit of the poison in it, but not enough to kill you. Well, not wanting to offend my host (and to satisfy my insane death wish), I bit into it, my mouth started to tingle, and the next thing I realized the room was humming. All the chefs and the patrons are staring at me, waiting for me to keel over, and I just smiled, and said “Dude….”
Tasted pretty good, too.
