      Some of the story is bound to happen offscreen, since the camera gives us only forty-minute chunks of life in Sunnydale once a week.

      While I agree with anniec’s comment, I don’t think it applies in this case. The first time we saw it, it might have made sense; but we know better now. I don’t remember anyone ever having called Angel. How many times has Buffy been worried about Angel not being around and has never once called him? I do not find Giles calling Angel to be believable.
