In a crisis involving loved ones, people sometimes respond without thinking everything through. Buffy’s sense of self-sufficiency (being the Slayer and all) probably rose to the surface and propelled her right on over to Sunnydale Arms.
Same thing happened to Giles the moment he heard that Buffy had entered the place after all. For all he knew, he was going to have to face Kralik himself.
