A few times in both the Buffy and Angel series, Angel, Spike, Darla, etc, mention that vampires don’t breathe. Yet there are scenes where Angel and Spike in particular are breathing heavily after a fight or something physical. Wierd.

I always just thought that they didn’t need to but they could if they wanted to, like a reflex or something. I mean, they can make every other bodily function work, so why not breathing? Besides, they’d need to pretend to breathe to fit in with the humans.

But in an Angel episode (can’t remember which one) he blows out a candle, which you can’t do with no breath.
