In the episode Angel, it appeared to be established that the restoration of Angel’s soul took place sixty years ago, or sometime in the 1920s. However, in Becoming (Part 1) it’s revealed to have taken place in 1898. |

You wrote “sixty” years ago, but this is probably a typo. You must mean “eighty,” since that’s what Giles said. However, Giles said that Angel came to the United States eighty years ago, not that his soul was restored eighty years ago.
A moment later, Xander says, “A hundred years or so before he came to our shores, what was he like then?” And Giles notes that he was a typical vampire at that time.
So the year of Angel’s change isn’t actually pinpointed here. In the series *Angel,* it’s made clear that Angel didn’t immediately come to the United States after his soul was restored.
