I believe this has been posted before, and I think it was because Spike blocked teh major artery in her neck, causing lack of blood in Dru’s brain, which caused her to pass out

However, he got the grip wrong. If you have the forearm flat against the throat, then you cut off the airway. To cut off the blood vessels to the brain, you must have the front of the neck in the crook of your arm and squeeze it between your forearm and bicep.
Scary knowledge.

Ok, how do you know that?
*steps away from Puja slowly*
Maybe he just really smooshed her neck to get to the artery?

No, I can’t kill you with my finger, why would you ask?
It’s a self-defense thing. The arteries are on either side of the next (where you’d take your pulse). If you can get your opponent reeling with a good kick to the testicles or a punch in the nose, then go around behind them, get their neck in the crook of your right arm and wrap your hand around your left bicep, bracing your left forearm against the back of their neck. All it takes is a little squeeze of your right arm and they’ll be out for the count very very quickly. It’s nearly an impossible hold to get out of, no matter how strong you are as you get about 15 seconds before you pass out.
A little lesson for the day.
