Buffyverse vampires conform to many traditional myths: they can be killed using stakes, sunlight, or beheading; holy water and crucifixes burn them; their faces and teeth change when ‘vamped’; they need to drink human blood to survive. They do not fly or turn into animals (though Dracula could do this in Buffy vs Dracula). Vampires must be invited into homes (though they can enter public places such as schools, hospitals and factories). When a vampire is invited into a home once, it can enter again at any point, unless a reversal spell is performed (seen in Passion).

from this then it doesn’t seam to prove that garlic can kill or hurt a vampire, so when willow uses garlic to help against angelus acording to this trivia it seam that it would not help at all. although i did think that Garlic was a way to ward of vampire this trivia seams to prove otherwise, i’m glad i cleared that up. thanks jess

BUT… I just watched The Harvest, and when Buffy explains to Xander what can and can’t kill/hurt a vampire, garlic is in the yes column.

ahhh, we have a winner, perhaps the trivia should be updated.

Also, Buffy has garlic in her room to ward against Spike (Wrecked).
See it to believe it

I was thinking about that time, too, but I wasn’t sure about it.

In the trivia, it says they need to drink human blood to survive. I don’t think that’s true. Animal blood seems to work just fine.

I have questions.
I wonder what garlic actually does to vampires? and how one would wield it in a battle?
Would garlic water have the same effect as holy water? garlic bread?
if i eat lots of garlic, would my blood taste revolting to a vampire?
also, check out ‘chanterelles’ website for some heavy role playing. it answers none of my garlic questions. and its funny (both ha-ha and eewwwww)

It seems like when it was used, it was used to repel vamps. Maybe they’re just repeled by it, maybe it doesn’t hurt them. In a time like this, there is only one thing to do: To the internet!

and another thing too, about flying.
in Angel the series, angel quietly acquires flying skills.
or high jump.

Yeah! I remember when a vampire crawled up a wall like Spiderman in an episode of Angel and I was like, “WTF?!?! They’ve never been able to do that before!!!” That show has its fair share of WTF moments.

Yeah I think they tried that based on other vampire lore but they quickly droped it. Probably due to the fan outcry of WTF!
