Xander says in the last series of Buffy that Buffy has died twice. This may be true, but lets look at this a different way: 1) Nightmares. Giles stands over Buffy’s grave. 2) Prophecy Girl. Buffy gets killed by the master. 3) The Wish. Buffy gets her neck broken by the master. 4) The Gift. Buffy throws herself off a tower created by crazy people. 5) Normal Again. At the end of the episode when it looks at the world that might have been, the doctor says that “we’ve lost her” indicating she had died. 6) Villains. Buffy gets shot and for a brief moment she flatlines (this one is a bit of a stretch, but I thought I’d put it in there) So over all the audience has seen Buffy die a total of 5 (maybe 6) times. |

In Normal Again, when the doctor says “we lost her”, he doesn’t mean she died. He means she might never re-emerge from her delusion.

I don’t know if this counts but she died once or twice in the books too.

I just thought it was worth saying: I have this Buffy book where its “Stake Your Destiny” meaning its a choose your own adventure book. Like, on a page you are presented with options that take you on different paths so you can read the book 15 times and it is different everytime.
I was reading this one part with Ethan Rayne and all of a sudden, Buffy (while reading the book, you are Buffy) gets shot and dies! It was the funniest thing! If you don’t make wise choices, you can actually get killed in the book. It’s pretty funny.

I love those! In the one with Spike and Dru if you don’t run the right way you get caught by them and turned.
In “The Book of fours” Buffy dies for a short period of time.
