Beljoxa’s Eye informs Giles and Anya in Showtime that something has disrupted the line of the Chosen, giving the First a chance to wreak havoc. This explains why the First has been dormant for so long. The Slayer herself is the source of the disruption, and Anya realises that she and the rest of the Scoobies are at fault for bringing Buffy back from the dead last year. |

Do they explain HOW the resurrection upset the slayer line, or does Anya just assume that’s the case? I can see how the mystical nature of buffy’s death, and that she was even able to be resurrected, could wreck havoc but they still need to clear that up–otherwise, why wouldn’t Buffy’s first death/resurrection have upset the slayer line? Because it wasn’t mystical? But there were still two slayers–that couldn’t have been normal by someone’s register…

That actually makes a lot of sense.

Is that why there wasn’t another Slayer called after Buffy died the second time, because Faith was already there and the Slayer line could go back to normal and stop being all wacky w/ the 2 Slayers?

But then why was Faith called? When Kendra died, Buffy was still there.

Every time that a Slayer dies, a new Slayer is called. Regardless of whether or not Buffy’s alive, a slayer still died.

Yeah, but there was no new Slayer after Buffy died in The Gift.

OK, I think this is actually pretty simple. Buffy died for a few seconds and Kendra was called. Kendra died and Faith was called. Faith was never killed so a new slayer would not have been called. Buffy’s line had already been broken the first time she died and was replaced by Kendra. Buffy died in the gift, but the line had actually been carried on by Faith. That’s my theory.

Makes perfect sense.

Thanks, margybee. I thought maybe I was just rambling again.

Surely the fact that the slayer line has now been completely changed by Willow’s spell will cause the balance between good and evil to be even more out of wack from now on? Won’t the extra ‘good’ influence in existence allow more evil to flourish?
