Behind the Scenes Trivia

Julie on working with David

Julie Benz (Darla) spoke of working with her co-star David Boreanaz:

“I’ve gotten to do some amazing work with David Boreanaz. He really is one of my favourite acting partners and we’ve had a lot of laughs, we’ve had a lot of tears. When you work with somebody like that throughout a six year timespan, you really start clicking and gelling together. It becomes really easy and you start knowing your rhythms and it just makes work so much easier.

Working with David, I always call him my truth meter because I can gnaw the scenery and be big and dramatic and over the top, and he’s very quiet, so he can bring me down. He’ll tell me, “Okay, hold it back,” and I know that I’ve been gnawing on the scenery and just ripping it up.”

Lawyers and Friends

John Rubenstein (Linwood Murrow) and Sam Anderson (Holland Manners) have both played Wolfram & Hart lawyers in Angel and doctors in Friends.

John played the doctor who delivered Chandler and Monica’s adopted babies in the episode ‘The Last One’ and Sam played the Happy Days loving doctor who examined Phoebe when she was having triplets in the episode ‘The One Hundredth’.

Character Trivia
Linwood

Linwood Murrow

Linwood Murrow was a special representative of the Senior Partners at Wolfram & Hart. A man so ruthless, he even allowed the Senior Partners to take away his children. As President of Special Projects Division, he was the direct superior of Lilah Morgan and Gavin Park. Unconcerned with Wolfram & Hart’s plot to corrupt Angel, Linwood tried to have the vampire killed - a violation of company policy. Lilah spoke to a Senior Partner and received permission to terminate Murrow’s employment. She decapitated him, and took over his position.

Quotes

Sahjhan: Have you followed this part of the history? The American Revolution, Manifest Destiny, Westward Movement, the Beach Boys?

Holtz: What of England? Does it survive the years and destruction?
Sahjhan: Yes. It went through a rough patch about 60 years ago. But it's mostly unchanged. Warm beer. Boiled meat. Bad teeth. That's why I moved to LA.

Angel: I had a bad day.
Darla: So you threw me through those glass doors, slammed me against the wall, pushed me onto the bed, and took what you wanted?!?
Angel: Seemed like the thing to do at the time.

Wesley: We'll wait for it to be born, then we'll chop it s head off.
Fred: What - if it doesn't have a head?
Cordelia: We're going to need a really big mallet.

Angel: Now if anyone has a problem with that, they should leave, now. (Darla gets up to leave and is stopped by Angel) Not you.

Cordelia: You want me to protect the vampire bitch who bit me and her evil love child?

Gavin: From what I hear, bumping uglies with an old man who body-jumped into a vampire is the closest thing you ve had to a meaningful relationship in years.

Darla: Something's wrong. The pain...
Angel: You like pain.
Darla: This is different.

Sahjhan: I ll take you to them. Two centuries in the future.
Holtz: Through black magic and sorcery.
Sahjhan: No! On a mule cart. Of course, through black magic and sorcery: I'm a demon!

Angel: How are you doing?
Darla: I haven't had blood in almost a day! Your devil-spawn s trying to rip its way out of my body! How do you think I m doing?

Sahjhan: Boy, you vengeful types sure aren't good at playing with others, are you?

Wesley: It's... it's human.
Gunn: Human as in humanoid? As in cannibalistic humanoid underground dwellers?
Wesley: No. Human as in... a boy.
