Faith smokes cigarettes in the episode Dirty Girls, which is the first time we’re seen her do this in Buffy. It’s possibly something she picked up in prison. Eliza Dushku smoked in real life but has since quit. |

Her voice does sound significantly more hoarse when she reappears in the seventh season… a result of smoking? or perhaps she was sick..?

No, she had to alter her voice, because her natural voice was killing her vocal chords (read that somewhere else on the site, can’t remember in which trivia subject however, probably in Eliza Dushku’s trivia page)

Me, too! I could spend hours with just sitting there and listen to that voice. She should do a book on tape or something like that…

I think the commentary for ‘Orpheus’ mentions Eliza Dushku losing her voice in the last few days of filming that episode, but I think it was just due to illness.
