Xander and Anya fall down on the sofa laughing at the end of their song in Once More, With Feeling. This is an homage to the song ‘Good Morning’ from Singin’ in the Rain where Gene Kelly, Debbie Reynolds and Donald O’Connor do the same thing.

In Once More, With Feeling, Tara mentions the “Lord of the Dance, though not the scary one” - she’s referring to the greased up Michael Flatley of Riverdance fame.

Whilst the episode All the Way was being filmed, the cast were simultaneously learning and recording their musical numbers for Once More, With Feeling, so the scenes of the exhausted Scoobies in the Magic Box are pretty realistic.

In All the Way, Giles tells Buffy that the undead don’t usually come out on Halloween. She reminds him of the events of season two’s Halloween (”costumes that take you over”) and season four’s Fear, Itself (”wee little Irish fear-demony thingies”).

Spike says in All the Way that he likes to put burba weed in his blood to make it “all hot and spicy.” We heard in Hush that he likes to crumble up Weetabix in blood as it “gives it a little texture.” Whilst in his crypt in Dead Things, …

In All the Way, Buffy is sent by Anya to get some mandrake root. It is a traditional magical ingredient which is said to look like a person, and would scream when pulled from the ground. Spike says mandrake root should be kept three to a jar to avoid cramping.

In End of Days, Faith is found unconscious face-down in a pool of water just as Buffy was in Prophecy Girl. Faith was previously unconscious/in a coma after Buffy stabbed her in season three.

In End of Days, Buffy tries to find out more about the shiny weapon she found in Touched. She discovers a tomb in Sunnydale where she runs into an old woman, who tells her she is the last guardian of Slayers and has been waiting and watching over the Slayer …

Joss Whedon kept one of the Slayer’s scythe props from season seven after the show finished. Several copies of it have been auctioned off on Ebay.

Charisma Carpenter (Cordelia) and Amber Benson (Tara) are the only cast members who were once regulars (or very nearly regular characters) to not come back and make a guest appearance after they left the show.

In The Gift, Buffy tells Dawn, “the hardest thing in this world is to live in it.” Dawn repeats this to her sister in Once More, With Feeling, after Buffy nearly dances herself to death.

Jonathan calls Andrew “Dragnet” in Villains, referencing the police drama, which has been epitomised in several TV shows.

In Villains, Andrew and Jonathan discuss the 1983 movie War Games, starring Matthew Broderick. The movie featured a teenager who gains access to the Pentagon’s strategic computer system. He thinks he’s playing a new computer game but is actually warming up a World War.

In Villains, Andrew says of the prison he and Jonathan are in, “this isn’t Oz”. He means the prison in the HBO show Oz.

In Villains, Xander calls Willow “Puppet Master”. Kate Orsini, who played the girl talking to Xander in the Bronze in Seeing Red, appeared in the 2003 movie Puppet Master: The Legacy.
