Alyson Hannigan said in an interview, “Angel…had to kill somebody we loved - we were all warned about that. Actually, I think it was supposed to be Oz that was killed, then they decided they’d keep Oz around and they killed Ms Calendar.” |

Angelus is a bad puppy.

I always wondered how different the show would have been if Oz was killed instead of Jenny. Interesting to think about. Would Giles and Jenny have lived happily ever after (in the Jossverse, yeah right) or would everybody have blamed Jenny for Oz’s death and she would have just left the show anyway.

It wouldnt make sense to kill Oz. Angelus killed Jenny because he didnt want to be turned back into angel.

Well, they could of had it so that when Angel was chasing Jenny, Oz in werewolf mode bursts in through the window, attack Angel then die in the fight giving Jenny enough time to escape.
Don’t think it would of had the same impact though.

When I read this piece of trivia, I got all teary trying to imagine it.
Was Oz a werewolf that night Jenny was killed though? *runs upstairs to rewatch the episode*

If I recall he wasn’t in the episode and if he was a werewolf that night, one of the other Scoobies would have been Oz-watching.

I don’t think it was originally supposed to be Oz being killed. Giles wouldn’t have the same “Passion” as he did and I don’t see Willow attacking Angelus at the Factory.

I believe the decision that Ms. Hannigan was referring to occurred before the episode was written.

The worst part is that then Angel wouldn’t have been responsible (making him not villianous, like in season four of ‘Angel’) since he would have just killed a werewolf that he couldn’t have known was Oz. Of course, had they chosen to kill Oz, I am sure that the writers wouldn’t have made him a werewolf a couple of episodes prior to this.

Even though I am all about Jenny not dieing, having Oz being killed would have made the impact of “Evil Angelus” less. Like TwoToGo-Grave said, if Oz was in werewolf mode, Angelus/Angel wouldn’t have been responcible for Oz’s death anyway. Plus, if Oz had been killed in Passion we would have lost that interesting love triangle between Oz/Willow/Tara in season 4.
