In the episode Sleeper Aimme Mann sings her song “Pavlov’s Bell”. The title of this song references Pavlov’s experiment with dogs, where he would ring a bell before giving them food. It got to the stage that every time the bell would ring the dogs would salivate in anticipation of the food, even when none was given to them. Thus the dogs were conditioned to the trigger of the bell, much like this episode shows that Spike has been conditioned to a trigger. |

Oh my god, that’s crazy. I never even noticed that. Everything. Fits. Scarily. Perfect.

Yeah it’s clever. I only realised the connection when I downloaded the song and found out the title.

I noticed the link too, the first time I watched this episode! Higher Psychology just came screaming back. It’s a really cool reference though, and I really like that scene in general, especially the edits between the band playing, and Spike and the vamp-ho fighting.
