 Spike’s mother’s first name was Anne, seen in Lies My Parents Told Me. She was a sickly woman who doted on her only son. When Spike was sired by Drusilla, he immediately brought the vampire home so they could sire Anne and become a group. I heard on the Commentary somethign that I’d noticed before: Anne is Buffy’s middle name…it is no coincidence that spike’s mother also shares this name

We first heard Anne was Buffy’s middle name in the episode Anne, when she used it as her name after running away to L.A.

In the Angel episode ‘Hellbound’ in season 5, Pavayne and the other ghost guys mention that Spike is just a ‘little nancy crying for your mother.’ He escaped that for 6 1/2 years and now, everyone’s talking about his mommma.
