Meanwhile Angel visits a comic book store seeking to solve the mystery and find out why someone would want Fred out of the way.

Professor Oliver Seidel
Oliver Seidel was a noted Physics professor who first got Fred interested in the subject. He introduced his past student when she gave a presentation for the Physics Institute on Supersymmetry. However, Fred discovered her idol was not all he seemed. Jealous of his gifted students, he had researched portals, and sent them into other dimensions - which was how Fred got to Pylea. Seidel died when Gunn snapped his neck and threw him into a portal that Fred had opened, in order to save Fred from murdering him herself.

The first and only time we see Cordelia’s parents is in Supersymmetry. They can be seen in one of the pictures that Cordelia hangs up to help her remember who is who.

Dark Horse Comics
The Jonathan comic books in Superstar were made by Dark Horse comics, the same company that makes the Buffy and Angel comics. In Supersymmetry, Gunn slams the comic shop clerk into a rack holding Dark Horse comics.

In Supersymmetry, Cordelia hangs photos of friends and family on her wall as reminders of who’s who. One of the photos is of Fred and Gunn at the ballet in Waiting in the Wings. The only problem is - who took the photo and when? The photo is taken from the seats in front of the pair, and Cordy and Angel were sat behind them. It’s also doubtful that they brought a camera to the ballet, and they certainly wouldn’t have been allowed to take photos during the performance. They definitely seem to be watching the ballet at the time the photo was taken.
