He twirled a staff didn’t he? Maybe my brain is fried from studying for finals…

It was a makeshift staff he got from ripping out one of the metal support poles on the subway. In this episode he also twirls a pool cue in the alley, when he’s re-enacting the subway scene.
I wish I could twirl stuff as cool as he does.

This is one of the very best scenes that the show ever had. The job of cutting between scenes as smoothly and wonderfully as they did is just masterful.
