Willow’s jacket

In Help, Xander takes Willow to the cemetary to see Tara’s grave. While they’re there, Willow is wearing the same dark denim jacket she wore in Villians, Two To Go and Grave, after Tara died and she went evil.

    1. Abby M. says:

Almost seems disrespectful in a way.

    2. Smash says:

She wears it once before, doesn’t she? I think it was during a chance meeting with Tara in Dead Things…but I might be wrong.

    3. MagicBone says:

I think then she’s wearing a different jacket.

    4. angellover38 says:

well, what i think is that willow forgot she wore it when she was evil or she knew that she was wearing it and thougt tara would forgive her if she wore it.

    5. TwoToGo-Grave says:

I guess it’s about her only jacket, so she need to wear it. She can’t have too much of this type of stuff, seeing as how she doesn’t bother to work [that pesky freeloader, hee hee).

    6. Willow Fan says:

      Hi Everyone!!!

Or maybe it was a screw-up in the wardrobe department. I mean, HELLO, why would Willow wear the jacket she wore when she was evil to visit Tara’s grave? Or then again, maybe Willow likes the jacket, who knows? Ugghh, I’m watchin’ that episode again…

    7. MagicBone says:

Maybe it’s her favorite jacket! It’s her only jacket! That was my Kendra thing.

    8. Smash says:

I doubt it matters much, I mean it’s just clothes. I mean she might be wearing the same shoes or underwear or socks but we just didn’t notice. Maybe I’m just a cheap old miser, but going crazy and killing people is no reason to throw out perfectly good clothing!

I agree with TwoToGo/Grave. It irked me that Buffy is so hard up for cash that she had to go sling burgers and wear a hat with a cow on it while Tara and Willow were sitting around “doing spells” all day. And what about Dawn? Stop your whining and go get a job at the mall ya brat! You would think with Buffy being all back from the dead and unstable that they could help out financially. Buffy should have taken Anya’s advice and started charging. Docotors and EMTs and lifeguards get paid to save lives, why not Slayers? And this has really nothing to do with Willows killer jacket so I’m done.

    10. cardboardy says:

willow definitely wears the jacket in dead things when she runs into tara outside the magic box.

i like the continuity factor on this one
all three appearances of the jacket are at pivotal moments for the willow tara story. i dont reckon its accidental or insignificant

And what about Dawn? Stop your whining and go get a job at the mall ya brat!

Yeah, I’m sure that would’ve worked well with all the shoplifting she was doing :-P

The whole “Willow and Tara freeloading” thing really bugs me, mostly because they never seemed like the kind of people who would willingly do something like that. The only slightly plausible excuse I can think of for them not getting jobs is that they were busy with college and education whereas Buffy wasn’t. But even then…I don’t know, it’s something the writers could’ve dealt with a bit better.

Funny thing, I had just finished rewatching my Season 6 DVDs two days ago when I found this wonderful site, and I absolutely had to comment on this, as it’s fresh in my mind.

I am absolutely positive the “jacket” Willow wears when she visits Tara’s grave in Help is NOT the same jacket from Villians/Two to Go/Grave. I re-(re)watched the scenes and took a bunch of screencaps, then blew them up in Photoshop… why are you looking at me like that? :P

      Anyway…

Dark Willow’s jacket has a collar, a lot more buttons and the arms flare at the wrists. The “jacket” (top, really) that Willow wears to visit the cemetary is a lighter-weight garment, less bulky around the shoulders and has no collar.

However, as previously mentioned, the infamous evil jacket is the same one from when she runs into Tara at the Magic Box in Dead Things.

      Obsessed? Me? Pfff…
