Anya

Anya

Anya first came to Sunnydale as Anyanka, a vengeance demon, but was made mortal when Giles destroyed her power source in The Wish. She began dating Xander, much to the astonishment of his friends. The two eventually decided to get married, though Xander left her at the altar in Hell’s Bells. Anya became a demon again after this but humanity had become a part of her and she decided to become human in Selfless. She joined the Scoobies in their fight against the First and was killed by a Bringer in the episode Chosen.

I think the interesting thing about Anya was watching her deal with the fact that she cared about people…we see this in season 7 too when she is trying to get back into the scooby gang despite herself…she doesn’t want to admit that now she is human that she needs people. She lived for hundreds of years seeing the world but she never cared or had anything linking her to her surroundings. I thought Anya was brilliantly acted by Emma. Her death was horrible but she was caring about the others

    2. MagicBone says:

If you think about it, it was kinda set up earlier that she was going to die because during her conversation with Andrew she admitted that she loved humans that was like the one thing she had never done, or at least said. Cause, god knows, she said everything else. But dont get me wrong, Anya was definately one of my absolute favorite characters.

    3. Dawn says:

Anya is the funniest character in the whole show…
I love her… her prescence on the screen was so captivating…

I loved to watch her ‘grow up’ as a real human…

    4. AnyaRocks says:

      I LOVE Anya!!!

I think she’s absolutely fantastic. She’s funny, gorgeous and sarcastic, but she can be kind and sweet too.

      Emma Caulfield plays her great.

    5. TwoToGo-Grave says:

I would have never guess that you like Anya! You are right about her though; she is just such an interesting, well-developed and funny character.

    6. AnyaRocks says:

Ooh, is that sarcasm? I like it! LOL!

I reckon Anya is the most underrated main character on the show.

    7. Abby M. says:

After Giles, she was is my favorite. I love her sarcasm and sense of humor. My favorite scenes of her are when she and Andrew are at the hospital and when she, Xander, and Dawn are playing Life. Classics.

    8. TwoToGo-Grave says:

The scenes in Entropy when she is trying to get everybody to make a wish against Xander sre great as well. After the Abby’s aforementioned scene with Andrew in End of Days, this is my personal favorite Anya moment.

    9. AnyaRocks says:

My favourite Anya moment is when the all lose their memory in ‘Tabula Rasa’, when she’s on top of the table, and has the following conversation with Giles:

Giles : Well fine, then just stay up there and keep making bunnies. That’s a capital plan.

Anya : What capital? I never know what you’re talking about. Loo, shag, brolly, what the hell is all that?

Giles : What? There’s no way that you could remember me saying any of those words.

Anya : Oh, bugger off, you brolley.

      Cracks me up every time.

    11. hannah_wish01 says:

hahaha, it seams that buffy are always portraying us brits in a comical way like when Tara says ‘Are you sure they’re English? I thought English people were, um, gentler than uh… normal people’ its funny how they always do that, plus the british in tweed (spike, giles, quentin) what could be better

    12. AnyaRocks says:

Yeah, and when Tara says that a trip to England sounds so exotic…unless you’re English. She’s not missin out on much.

    13. hannah_wish01 says:

yeah exotic much? unless you like rain, tweed (actualy not many brits wear tweed it is a common misconception, and steriotype lol) or the queen then theres nothing here for ya. (i know theres a reason why i am not a travel agent, im not a great advert for the country.)

    14. AnyaRocks says:

Me neither. I can picture it now.

Customer: So what do you reccomend us to see in England?

Me: Blackpool. It’s got a tower like the Eiffel Tower, only there’s a lot more shit in the sea. And London, but watch out for bombs. (

    15. AnyaRocks says:

And Girls Aloud, but watch out for that Cheryl Tweedy. I hear she’s got a right left hook. lol. Britain is so crap. I wish I lived in America. My dream is to go to New York.

    16. MissKittyFantastico says:

“Britain’s crap” ?!! What, you mean you don’t love the wind and the rain 364 days of the year, the good old NHS, having a royal family that sit and do absolutely sod all, the fact that we have to pay so much damn tax on everything from cars to cigarettes….

Oh yeah, britain really IS crap!!

    17. uselessrocker says:

Anya’s my favorite character. Xander was for about the first four and a half seasons, but then the writers just seemed to forget about him.

    18. becsug says:

Don’t forget about Season 5 episode, The Replacement - that was a Xander special.

    19. BuffyAnya says:

      I love Anya!
Anya is funny, sarcastic and nice. I loved her speech in The Body.

    20. The_True_Xander says:

Personally, my favourite Anya speech would have to be her rant in Seeing Red. The way she says ‘blah blah blahblah blah’ just makes me break down every time. All of my friends think I’m a weird freaky-deaky geek with too much time on his hands, simple because I have chosen to memorize this speech and many others as perfectly as I can, including intonation and facial expressions. Some people have no appreciation of art…
