David Fury mentioned in his commentary for Grave that he wanted to bring back the dragon that came out of the portal in The Gift for Buffy to fight. However, the season’s budget had been blown on Once More, With Feeling and Gone. Because CGI dragons are expensive they had to settle with Buffy fighting zombies underground. |

CGI creatures done with a TV budget invariably look poo anyway. Still, I suppose she could (if the budget had allowed) have tamed the dragon and ridden around on it incinerating vamps. Would have eased the pressure on her “staking arm” for a while at least.

Instead of fighting kakky looking zombies.

Actually. Were they zombies? they seemed to be weird underground creatures made out of the earth. What do you class them as?

Well, David Fury said they were zombies so I guess they were, but they did look weird, didn’t they? Maybe they were just reall, really, dirty!

There’s a dragon in the final scene in the Angel series finale, “Not Fade Away.” Same dragon? I like to think so.
As our heroes (Spike, Angel, Gunn, & Illyria) charge through the rain. . .
Spike: And in terms of a plan?
Angel: We fight.
Spike: Bit more specific?
Angel: Well, personally, I kinda want to slay the dragon. Let’s go to work.

the director of not fade away said that they had the dragon lieing around so they used it. one would assume then that this was the same dragon

It would have been so perfect if, right at the end of NFA, Buffy, the scoobies and a bunch of potentials swoop in and help Angel & the gang fight against the dragon and everything. But that’s a not-gonna-happen fanfic fantasy that we can just hope happened.

Here’s my little bit on the Angel series finale: I don’t think you can be happy with the finale if you think in terms of “I wondered what happened to the characters?” The point of the finale is show that exact point. You don’t look to future saying, “I wondered what will happen…”, you supposed to just stay and fight the good fight. I think thats what the episode is supposed to leave you with: “You don’t dwell on if your going to live or not, the point is you have to stay and fight, no matter what.” If you look at the episode with that POV, you see how through everything that those people went through, they are still going to stay and “help the helpless”.
Still though, that episode is frustrating as Hell…

I haven’t seen Angel’s finale yet, (still I have to catch up with lots of Buffy and Angel’s chapters I missed), so I wonder, if they lose that fight against thousands of demons, which seems likely, does that mean the world is doomed? Sooner or later Buffy, the Slayers and of course the Scoobies would have to act…
