Character Trivia
Merl

Merl

Merl was a tongue-less parasite demon, whose snitchy services were often used by Angel Investigations, sometimes for money, sometimes using physical and verbal violence. He hung around mostly at Lorne’s karaoke bar, Caritas.

Merl was not evil, but his services were easily brought, making him untrustworthy. n That Old Gang of Mine, Merl was once again used for information by Angel, who hung him upside down. He demanded an apology from Angel, and when Angel went to visit him the next day to make up, he found Merl dead. Merl had been killed by Gunn’s old demon hunting gang, who had begun to unnecessarily kill peaceful demons.

Music Trivia

Patsy Cline

Xander listens to country music (”the music of pain”) in Prophecy Girl, after Buffy turns him down. His chosen track is Patsy Cline’s “I Fall To Pieces“. A season one episode of Angel was entitled I Fall To Pieces after this song.
Fred sings Patsy Cline’s song “Crazy” at Caritas in That Old Gang of Mine (Cordelia: “I swear to God, she picked out the song herself”).

Mythology Trivia

Transuding Furies

The Transuding Furies were three ageless sisters hired by Lorne to place a Sanctorium spell at Caritas to prevent demon violence. When Cordelia went to them for help in That Old Gang of Mine, they suggested that they had known Angel intimately. The ageless sisters float a few feet above the ground and speak in unison. They were seen again in Offspring, making Caritas safe again.

Quotes

Cordelia: Right, and it's not like the last time she was out in the world, she got sucked into an interdimensional portal and ended up living like a hunted animal in a hostile demon alterna-world or anything. Oh, wait, kinda is, isn't it?

Wesley: Charles, things are not always so simple as just going out and slaying the big bad ugly. There are in this world shades of grey.

Cordelia: (on Fred's choice of "Crazy" for karaoke) I swear to God, she picked out the song herself.

Gunn: Man, we used to face death because we had to. Now you go chasing it down, man, for the fun of it. That ain't right.

Gunn: It's about the mission, bro. He's got it, and you don't.

Transuding Sisters: This is not a debt you can pay.
Cordelia: You don't know that. My credit has been very good this last year.

Transuding Sisters: Mmm Angel.

Gunn: No matter what else, I think I proved that you could trust me when I could have killed you and I didn't.
Angel: No, you'll prove I can trust you when the day comes that you have to kill me, and you do.
