I hate how this is never mentioned in Angel, and plus, his visit to Sunnydale is in the midst of when he goes sorta-but-not-souless-evil in LA.

    2. TwoToGo-Grave says:

The fact that it’s in the midst of that dark time is a big problem, but I think that it wouldn’t have fit to mention this on Angel. He just shouldn’t have shown up on BTVS for this to begin with and it wouldn’t have been a problem.

    3. Abby M. says:

Yeah, I always thought it was weird that Angel just showed up. He said he cam as soon as he heard, who did he hear it from? Plus, it isn’t like Angel showing up was extremely significant—in my opinion.

    4. TwoToGo-Grave says:

It really wasn’t significant. It didn’t play any part in the episode, and it’s just sort of awkward.

    5. Abby M. says:

Yeah, it felt kinda forced. There was no need like there was in Chosen, Pangs, etc…

    6. Longlostscooby says:

I think it was excellent that he came back for this ep. Think about it, if someone you loved mother just died wouldn’t you at least want to offer your condolnces. Wouldn’t you go back home for the funeral?

    7. Angel242 says:

It was kinda weird and awkward, and it was like it’s always with Buffy and Angel…
      Complicated.., And, I’m a B/A fan.
Angel heard it from Willow, it was once mentioned in Angel, but can’t remember where!

      spike has b’please

    9. slightlyembarrased says:

And, to anyone who has ever read her posts, it is abundantly clear that b’please loves Spike in a way that few people ever love another.

I mean it…it’s the real thing. So, BACK OFF ZIPPY!

    10. Abby M. says:

As I have stated before, I believe Buffy and Angel love each other but come on! Spike was so much cooler then Angel. He fought for his soul when he was ‘evil’ and Angel saw it as a curse. Granted he can’t have perfect happiness like Spike can (and I do respect the character of Angel) but…..!

I am starting watch season 5 of Angel and it so funny to see that the writers are trying to play Spike down because any scene he is in, he dominates…it’s so funny.

I think that Angel would have sacrificed himself in Chosen. I think that was kind of the point. He was at a low point-Cordy was in a coma; his son turned evil(er) and Angel took him out of his life and gave him to a normal family; he was taking over W&H, which (I think) he knew was wrong. It was just one of those times, seen often in the verse (see also, Dead Things) when a character’s ready to just give up because nothing’s going right.

(But give it up without admitting it to themselves. Angel sleeping with Darla (Reprise, AtS) was Angel giving up and knowing it. Angel being willing to die in Chosen was him giving up and refusing to admit it. All the characters went through it. Buffy in Dead Things, Willow in the summer between Season 6 and 7, Faith in Five by Five (AtS), etc.)

    12. slightlyembarrased says:

      Paging Jess..Abby broke the site!

    13. MagicBone says:

I just thought of something: if Angel had worn the amulet and, you know, the sunlight was all channelled through him and he dusted all of the Turok-Han(s?), wouldn’t he have accidently dusted Spike too? Oooh, that would have been bad.

    14. slightlyembarrased says:

      Angel’s a putz.

    15. ormaybemidgets says:

I’m thinking that logically, Spike would have dusted but plot-ly, they would have gotten him out just in time.

Also, I wish I had some retaliation, but as I like both Spike and Angel, I’m taliation-less.

    16. ormaybemidgets says:

Also, I just looked it up, and how can retaliation be a synonym for taliation? Is this right? Is dictionary.com tricking me? Is it too late to be thinking?

    17. slightlyembarrased says:

I think you’re just whelmed by the whole concept…maybe even overwhelmed.

    18. MagicBone says:

Whelmed and overwhelmed are like the same thing.

    19. ormaybemidgets says:

Yeah, so are retaliation and taliation.

      (Inexplicably and crazily)

    20. MagicBone says:

      I didn’t know taliation was a word.

    21. ormaybemidgets says:

Me neither, but so says dictionary.com.

    22. Esual says:

This could have taken place after the events of Epiphany. And besides, dont you think Angel would have made time for Buffy, even when he is in the midst of losing his sole? Maybe

    23. Kevmaster2000 says:

Yeah, if I’m not mistaken, this episode aired after the Angel episode “Epiphany”, which is sort of the episode in which Angel makes amends with his team and turns back to the regular old Angel. So it’s not really out of character for him to comfort the love of his life after her mother’s death. And then in the following Angel episode, Alyson Hannigan made an appearance. Kind of a trade-off or something. Although it is odd that Angel’s visit to Sunnydale is never mentioned on his show.
