Never Kill a Boy on the First Date

In the beginning of the episode, just before the theme rolls, the Master reads from a book. He says, “‘And in this time shall come the Anointed, the Master’s great warrior. And the Slayer will not know him, will not stop him, and he will lead her into Hell.’” This indicates that the Slayer will be around at the time of the Annointed One. Then why isn’t the Master prepared? In The Harvest, he seems surprised to find out she’s in town. (Luke: And there was a girl. She fought well and she knew of our breed.
It is possible that she may be…

Master: …a Slayer!)

maybe he hadnt read tht book yet…

    2. Julie says:

I second Rozzi. The Harvest takes place before NKABOTFD, so it’s normal that he was surprised in The Harvest.

In Out of Mind, Out of Sight, Giles gets his hands on the Codex- a book of prophecy about the Slayer. And he takes it seriously. Wouldn’t the Master do the same with a book of prophecy about the Annointed? Everything he read came to pass. Yes, Buffy did know the Annointed, but she doesn’t stop him, and he does lead her into Hell.

If the Master had a book that predicted the future, and was proven or suspected, or there was the slightest possibility of it being true, he wouldn’t read it?

    4. Abby M. says:

Yeah but the Codex was really special and rare right? I mean, everything in that book came to pass.
