The Slayer is “one girl in all the world born with the strength and skill to hunt vampires” (and all other evil). When one Slayer dies, another is chosen to take her place. A Watcher is assigned to each Slayer, to help, advise and train her. The Slayer is also called The Chosen One. Because of the nature of their work, Slayers traditionally do not live very long. Slayers seen on the show include Buffy Summers, Kendra, Faith, the First Slayer and Nikki Wood. |

I have to give praise to Joss Whedon. In my personal opinon, he is one fo the most brilliant people to come up with the idea for a slayer. The slayer concept breaks all modern sterotypes and is therefore brilliant.

They also briefly showed another slayer. In the episode “Fool for Love” there is mention of a chinese slayer that Spike had killed. They mention Nikki Wood as well.

I wish they had given the chinese Slayer a name, because she was so different from the others. She must have been the Watchers Council’s teachers pet in her day.

Just to be pedantic, all the potentials after were turned in to slayers in the final ep. and we saw them. eg kennedy. nyaa.

Two things: buffybot - what does pedantic mean, I know I sound stupid and saintsaucey - I read somewhere on some website that the Slayer that Sid knew was supposed to be the same girl as the Chinese Slayer Spike killed in 1900.

pedantic means kinda picky in a gilesy way. it means being proper about everything.

I think MagicBone’s website source was probably mistaken. I seem to remeber that the Korean Slayer was around in the 20s or 30s-but I could be very wrong. Anyhow, the big issue is really that Korea and China are very different countries, and the person who posted that was probably just generalizing because they are both Asian. But, who knows.
