Sorcerer Cloutier was a sixteenth century French sorcerer, who excelled at trances. In No Place Like Home, Anya mentions “Pull the curtain back”, a trances which enables a person to see a spell, via it’s trace signature. Buffy performed the trance to see what was harming her mother. |

Anya mentions the spell’s original French name, which is “Tirer la couverture”. It translates literally as “Pull the blanket”. Willow’s translation (”Pull the curtain back”) is also accurate, metaphorically speaking.

technically a “couverture” is anything that covers, so a curtain would fall into that category.

couverture - a name for chocolate too. Usually used in reference to chocolate to be melted and used to cover something..duh

by the way, why was Dawn acting so freaky to joyce when she came home, offering her tea and all that? She seemed like she was going to kill her!! I geuss they makers wanted us to suspect Dawn more…
